KIMIE PARKER

CONTEMPORARY DANCE ARTIST

PERFORMER EDUCATOR CREATOR

Alicia Steeves Photography

I am a dance performance artist, educator, and creator based in Brooklyn, NY. My movement practice, both on stage and in the classroom, centers around unveiling//distorting the anatomical//social form and function of my Asian body. My work is a continuous pursuit of understanding my distant Japanese ancestry while embodying the complexities of diaspora and struggles of femininity within the context of patriarchy.

I have been invited to teach or choreograph for the Limon Dance Company Summer Intensive, BigKid Summer and Winter Create + Connect, Gibney Dance Summer Studies, and DISCO RIOT.

Since earning my BFA from Point Park University in 2019, I have been a company member with Sidra Bell Dance New York (SBDNY). In 2022, I was appointed Rehearsal Director. With the company, I have taught at institutions such as Harvard University, The Juilliard School, NYU Tisch School of the Arts, University of the Arts, SUNY Purchase, and more.
